Youth At Risk

chrysalis equine therapy

Youth at risk can be defined as young people whose background places them “at risk” of future offending or victimisation due to environmental, social and family conditions that hinder their personal development and successful integration into the economy and society.

This experiential approach allows clients to become aware of their thoughts, words and actions, thereby providing the tools through which individuals can better manage their lives and foster better relationships, whilst simultaneously teaching positive problem solving, conflict resolution, communication and social skills, and an increase in self confidence.

Focus is placed on the horses and therefore creates a non threatening space for the youth to express themselves through the horses. We find that this is what fosters self-confidence and communication, which enables effective behaviour changes.

Our program addresses:

  • Leadership
  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Communication
  • Drug problems
